Interns on McClatchy’s Audience Development Team build and manage content-focused social media campaigns that elevate our journalism. The team is responsible for sharp, concise, clean social copy to help readers understand and engage with the local news that affects their daily lives. We also are key to newsrooms’ breaking news strategy, taking the lead on email alerts to readers and curating newsletters. SEO and writing headlines for digital audiences are central to this role.

Our interns are vital, and we value their contributions. This is a 10-week summer 2022 internship.

Qualifications include:
The ability to work quickly, accurately and well.

An instinctive grasp of how to reach and engage readers.

A deep understanding of what drives interest on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media platforms.

A strong entrepreneurial spirit, good curiosity and high energy.

Solid news judgment; strong communication skills.

A familiarity with content management systems.
