Community Stabilization Unit

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) and the direct supervision of the Senior Program Assistant, the incumbent will provide administration support to funding opportunities that largely fall under the responsibility of the Community Stabilization Unit (CSU), with a specific primary focus on four US State Department Bureaus: CT/CVE, NEA, AF, CSO; and a secondary focus on researching key portfolio topics, and will have the following tasks:

1. Support to USAID-funded Competitive Bids:

  • Develop a strong understanding of the various USG donors in general, with a specific focus on

U.S. State Department/CSO, U.S. State Department/CT-CVE; U.S. State Department / ISN/ECC(EXBS Program), U.S. State Department / Africa Bureau, and others upon request.

  • Assist with the successful review of the Scope of Works attached to the USG agreements submitted to IOM for signature, with a specific focus on Scope of Works issued by CT/CVE; check that the language used in the Scope of Work is aligned with IOM’s mandate, and that the

Scope of Work has received relevant internal endorsements;

  • Assist with editing key project proposal documents and deliverables as needed.
  • Maintain and regularly update a matrix of all program activities funded by the U.S. State

Department/CSO, U.S. State Department/CT-CVE; U.S. State Department / ISN/ECC (EXBSProgram), U.S. State Department / Africa Bureau, and others upon request.

  • Participate in regular calls scheduled with the donor in Washington and IOM field about updates on relevant program activities; write and/or file minutes of those calls and provide support to

IOM in the field with the follow-up of possible action items agreed during those calls.

  • Assist the IOM missions in the field with the development and submission to the donor of program deliverables, such as Work-plan, M&E plan, Risk Mitigation plan, etc.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the on-line platforms used by the USG for the submission of project applications, including and not limited to SAMS.gov and grants.gov;

2. Research on other opportunities:

  • Research and prepare one-page “talking papers” on potential areas of programming, on key ideas related to M&E, HR, CVE related topics – all lined to portfolio.
  • Create and maintain a OneDrive share-point site to house this and other information.
  • Pursue opportunities as determined by line management.

3 Other Support provided to CSU:

  • Perform any other additional tasks that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Eligibility criteria:

Applicants to IOM internships must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or b) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or c) Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation. d) All applicants must be between 20 and 36 years of age.

Compensation: A modest stipend is available

  • Length & Hours: This internship is 40 hours/ week; If you are still attending school, please note that we need availability between 9am-5:30pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Open to candidates who are eligible to work in the Unites States.
