SMX is looking for a Junior Marketing and Events Coordinator to help increase brand awareness and preference. In this role, you will provide end-to-end event management for a variety of in-person, hybrid, and virtual events, while collaborating across multiple business units and departments. As the Marketing and Events Coordinator, you will use your understanding of our capabilities and target audiences to grow and evolve our events strategy, expanding our client reach and enhancing return on investment. You will also assist our content marketing managers with the marketing strategies, campaigns, content development and reporting/metrics.
This is a remote position but will require some travel to provide event support, when appropriate and in adherence with COVID-19 guidelines.
This position will be part of our growing corporate Marketing team and will be required to collaborate with various contacts and stakeholders across the organization.
Core Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning and execution of virtual, hybrid, and in-person events to increase brand awareness, create new leads and opportunities, and deepen our existing relationships with partners and clients
- Research events (for sponsorship and hosting), negotiate contracts, secure venues, and manage budget
- Oversee venue and personnel logistics, both before and during events (including but not limited to scheduling, use of space, conference setup, vendor management, branding, AV services, catering, etc.)
- Review existing event practices and propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process
- Assist with other content marketing and advertising duties as needed
- Collaborate with content marketing managers, creative services, and external agencies to develop marketing collateral for business development activities, events, lead-gen campaigns, recruiting, etc.
- Work with Creative Services and Employee Engagement to manage inventory of branded swag and promotional items for multi-purpose
- Coordinate shipping and supplies with appropriate teams to event venues
- Assist with other content marketing and advertising duties as needed
Required Skills and Experience:
- Clearance Required: None (Must be clearable)
- US citizenship required for work under DoD contracts
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field
- 1-3 years of experience in event management, marketing, or project management
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with both internal and external audiences at all levels of leadership
- Detail-oriented with solid organizational, problem-solving and time management skills
- Exceptional project management skills and ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Previous experience working with and closely managing vendors
- Experience with marketing campaign tactics
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and the ability to excel both as an individual contributor and team player
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with marketing automation platforms
- Willingness to travel (as needed) in adherence with SMX's COVID-19 policies
- Ability to occasionally lift to 50 lbs.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience with social media management
- Familiarity with Word Press and CRM tools
