Intern, IT Business Systems Analyst

JOB SUMMARY

As the Business Systems Analyst Intern you assist in the requirements' definition, solution design and deployment of projects across TriNet. You will bridge the gap for a team of technical experts which may consist of Architects, Developers, QA Testers, Analysts and Business stakeholders. This ‘hands on’ role will work with management and cross functional peers in the delivery and engagement of small size projects to long-range projects.

Essential job duties/responsibilities:

  • Work closely with business and development teams to analyze and develop the best solution design and approach as a hands-on analyst or PM
  • Make solution recommendations that align to short- and/or long-term strategic plans and roadmaps
  • Articulate solution alternatives and employ data-based recommendations to influence decision makers and ensure business outcomes will be achieved
  • Ensure adherence to SDLC practices, including scoping, analysis, design, and testing standards via Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies
  • Develop, evaluate, and implement improved processes, methods and tools to continually improve software analysis, project management, and delivery
  • Provide hands-on issue resolution alternatives and takes ownership of assigned deliverables
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the manager’s discretion.

Job requirements and qualifications

Education:

Must be enrolled Junior or senior undergrad OR enrolled graduate students with a declared major in Management Information System (MIS), Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or other related field

Minimum 3.0 GPA in core major classes

Experience:

Previous relevant internship/work experience preferred

Academic leadership or extra-curricular activity involvement preferred

Hands-on experience with requirements analysis, solution design, and/or project management preferred

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to understand business objectives and requirements and convert them into solution designs and/or project plans

Thrive in fast-paced environments, flexible and able to roll with changing business and technology environments

Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

Problem solver with intellectual curiosity to surface insights & implications and use this knowledge to think creatively about solutions

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Collaboration skills, works well in a team environment where team members may be distributed (not co-located).

High level of self-motivation: volunteer readily, undertake self-development activities, seek increased responsibilities, takes independent actions and calculated risks

Ability to manage multiple, concurrent work streams and tasks

Technical Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Beginner to intermediate knowledge of some of the following (not all required):

Object-Oriented analysis and design skills from a customer-in vantage point

Experience with multiple Software Development Lifecycle methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.)

Agile (Scrum) project methodologies and development practices, particularly sprint planning and assessment, and test-driven development and continuous integration

Exposure to low code/no code platform (e.g., ServiceNow)

Integration/EAI technologies (e.g. Informatica, ESB, etc.),

JavaScript, including SOAP, RESTful, .NET and related technologies (JSON, XML, etc)

Common frameworks such as struts, spring, hibernate, etc. and database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, JDBC, SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures)
