Jr. Energy Engineer
Overview: Job Summary/Objective:
The Service Delivery Engineer’s role is to identify, quantify and enable clients to safely implement energy efficiency and decarbonization measures in buildings to deliver financial and environmental impact. At Carbon Lighthouse, the Engineer is the primary client-facing representative for the technical delivery of our CLUES AI platform and actionable energy efficiency recommendations. The role requires client centricity, as it greatly impacts client satisfaction. The Engineer utilizes an engineering (or technically equivalent) background to deliver financially attractive efficiency and decarbonization recommendations to clients by taking on complex, open-ended and real world engineering challenges while working in a collaborative team on projects that require long term persistence. The Engineer conducts their work with an eye towards iteratively improving our tools and methods, including: building relationships with clients, contractors and suppliers; improving feasibility checks on solutions; garnering support from client technical stakeholders, and applying new methodologies to maximize energy savings potential.

Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
- Deliver Carbon Lighthouse’s technical service to clients on an ongoing basis, in order to drive high client satisfaction and recurring improvements to their buildings’ energy operations.
- Use CLUES and other tools to analyze energy usage, equipment operation and other building data; construct HVAC, lighting, solar, utility rate and other building system models that capture the quantitative, governing relationships of complex building systems; verify the financial and environmental opportunities.
- Work with a variety of Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) to assess functionality and limitations, set up and download trends, and identify sequences of operation
- Build and maintain relationships with client teams, especially property managers and facility engineers, to understand their needs and support their implementation of energy efficiency measures
- Develop contractor RFPs, bidding specifications, and commissioning guidelines
- Determine the technical and financial feasibility of proposed energy solutions
- Apply engineering and real world judgment to assess and communicate risks and uncertainties
- Support sales by demonstrating technical expertise to clients and serving as the client-facing technical authority
- Support software team by defining requirements, testing software, and providing regular user feedback
- Assist in developing new processes and tools that reduce time or cost, improve client relationships, or increase energy savings in delivered solutions
- Manage simultaneous complex tasks and projects, across multiple client sites.
- Work in a cross-functional team environment where asking questions and challenging assumptions is necessary due to complex and multi-disciplinary problems
- Contribute to company growth by supporting internal functions such as improving tools & processes, sharing best practices, mentoring other engineers, leading trainings, supporting hiring, and/or other group and team support as needed
- Occasionally participate in field-based sensor deployment, functional testing, feasibility evaluations, equipment measurements, and other data collection needs
- Occasionally manage contractor qualification, bidding, selection, and construction at some sites
- Note that these tasks may expand or evolve over time.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications:
- Dedication to Carbon Lighthouse’s environmental mission
- BS in Engineering (CE, ME, EE, PE, ChE) or similar technical field
- 1+ years work experience
- Demonstrated experience executing on engineering or construction projects, or similar work
- Excellent question-asker and communicator, and enjoys working on teams
- Excellent organization, attention-to-detail, and time management skills
- Demonstrable experience solving complex and open-ended engineering challenges:
- Able to determine an objective, or multi-dimensional objectives

Bonus Qualifications:
- HVAC systems and/or Controls software/hardware background
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Licensed PE in relevant field
- PMP certification
- Technical sales of any kind
