YOUR POSITION WITH TNC

The Policy & Partnerships Intern works on a variety of activities alongside the Policy & Partnerships team at the Massachusetts Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, which may include administrative duties, advocacy, research, and outreach on a wide variety of policy and projects that help achieve our goals related to biodiversity and climate change.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Green Budget Advocacy: assist with making case to the legislature for increased funding for state annual operating budget for agency partners and specific programs
  • Advocacy for priority legislation: assist with outreach and meetings with legislators on TNC priority bills
  • Research on federal funding (ARPA, infrastructure, and climate/social infrastructure): We are taking an iterative approach, so tasks are not 100% identified, but likely to include helping provide input to state agencies om the best value/impact for federal funds
  • Researching topics for the 2023 and beyond as we will have a new governor and emerging legislative priorities
  • Research on the Climate Funding Project: digging deeper on sources of funding and the background of community-based organizations with which we are engaging and aligning.
  • Performs duties under general supervision and established guidelines.
  • Prioritizes work independently, working with supervisor as needed.
  • Makes day to day decisions within the scope of work assignments.
  • Consults with supervisor to address any issues that affect the work of others or the program as a whole.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience, coursework, or other training in public policy, government relations, business, or sustainability.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Experience in general program support such as meeting preparation, data tracking and research or related experience.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Ability to organize time and manage diverse activities.
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
