JOB SUMMARY The SSVF Junior Case Manager will help SSVF (Supportive Services for Veteran Families) program participants – documented veteran individuals and families who are on the brink of homelessness – to maintain their housing. The provision of case management will include timely and appropriate follow-up support, including linkages to community-based services, to help the household maintain housing. The SSVF Junior Case Manager will monitor individuals or families’ progress and link households_ t_o mainstream and private resources in addition to SSVF financial assistance. The SSVF Junior Case Manager’s caseload will consist of homeless prevention “HP” designated veterans/veteran households primarily.
NOTE: This is a grant-funded position with continuance of position based on length of grant opportunity.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Punctual and dependable attendance
- Will assist program participants on the brink of homelessness to maintain housing.
- Have working knowledge of veteran and public benefits and help clients receive benefits for which they are eligible.
- Monitor participant’s progress and provide linkage to community-based services to help the household maintain existing housing.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the SSVF Program Guide and GICO SSVF Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Submit required reports to supervisor on time and complete.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with referral agencies and community partners.
- Participate in case staffing with other SSVF case managers.
- Collect necessary verifications required by HUD and keep accurate and updated client files.
- Input and update information for SSVF program in HMIS and other relevant data systems.
- Advocate for clients with landlords, employers, and community resources.
- Negotiate lump sum payments on behalf of the veteran to reduce the overall costs associated with indebtedness due to homelessness or eviction related issues.
- Escalate more involved case management issues to Case Managers for more detailed evaluation and service delivery.
- Submit proper and accurate check requests with supplemental supports reflective of preventing homelessness.
- Support grant financials and make decisions that support the stability of Goodwill’s SSVF grant.
- Home visits to support veterans who need supplemental supports.
- Responsible for effective collaboration with all SSVF partners for the delivery of services, including Screeners; Case Managers; employment and assistance resources; Veterans Administration and VA Hospital(s); Legal Advocates; Urban Home Locator and others as deemed necessary.
- Responsible for promoting and explaining program services and provide supportive services for participants including basic assessment, information and referral for housing and needed services, advocacy, and follow-up assistance as needed once housing is maintained or secured.
- Ensure program participant satisfaction through personal contact and exit surveys.
- Ensure program participant confidentiality and eligibility in records and data systems.
- Must be able to maintain professional poise under pressure.
- Must be able to develop problem solving solutions through creativity and professionalism.
- Reviews and is familiar with OK Goodwill safety policies, programs, and procedures. Adheres to all safety rules, regulations, and safety codes. Attends safety training sessions and necessary safety meetings
- Complete all required training and maintain standards in accordance with CARF.
- Will adhere to Goodwill core values of respect, integrity, commitment, and innovation.
- This position is subject to reevaluation each grant period and responsibilities may change to reflect the needs of the veteran homeless populations and grant directives. This position must operate under the premise that flexibility is essential, and that cross training is required for success.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
- Associates degree or equivalent in social services or related field; actively working toward bachelor’s degree in same field preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations including disabled individuals and individuals with significant barriers to employment and housing preferred.
- Must maintain valid Oklahoma driver's license and current auto insurance.
- Must maintain a good driving record and pass MVR check.
- Must pass OSBI/DOC background check as well as drug screening.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- High level of attention to detail.
- Must possess strong organizational skills, and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills: able to work well with a wide range of people.
- Demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules.

- Ability to meet deadlines as established.
- Ability to complete and maintain:
- CPR and First Aid certifications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
- Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds
- Some work sites require long periods of walking and standing.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work in climate-controlled atmosphere majority of the time.
- Work remotely from home as needed
