As an Intern for our on-premise and cloud services engineering support team, you will be on the forefront helping to shape, support and run the next generation of SAP Fieldglass platforms across our various on-premise and cloud-based services around the world. You will have the unique opportunity to touch on many different aspects of an Agile Information Technology role and to interact with multiple teams while gaining exposure to new and existing software and service offerings to help influence and support systems that enable best-in-class operation of our SAP applications and services for our customers. By partnering with colleagues across our technology teams, you will oversee system performance, troubleshoot incidents, provide solutions, and escalate more complex problems to stakeholder teams. As a cloud services engineering Intern, you will play a key role in helping to shape efforts around each platform’s best practices and collaborate with colleagues in your role to build and support high-performance, secure, and distributed global platforms at scale in support of our customers and help them to evolve their business.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITES
- Help to support, run and evolve the environment management and production grade support systems for both on-premise datacenters and cloud architectures, including Windows Active Directory and IaaS/PaaS services for Windows, Linux, Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and SAP Cloud Platform.
- Shadow and learn to execute IT operations tasks on a global team with a rotating 24x7 follow the sun shift operational support model.
- Learn to monitor, troubleshoot, report, and escalate necessary issues to key stakeholders.
- Do research & help to create automation around less efficient manual processes and be part of design/PoC efforts for latest public cloud, on-premise and hybrid architectures.
- Assist the business in ongoing security improvement goals including research, patching and vulnerability reduction efforts.
- Engage, influence, and improve our culture of learning, including active participation and driving best practices and principles based on industry experience, trends, and self-discovery.
- Collaborate with multiple technology teams on a global scale to support our SaaS application and learn to support containerized Kubernetes-based highly available, performant and secure platforms across multiple regions.
- Other operational systems, research and support responsibilities as needed.

- Educational requirements – Candidates currently enrolled in an undergraduate or master’s degree program applicable to the position (computer science based or equivalent proven experience.)
- Self-motivated, can do attitude - someone who is engaged and stays curious and who knows that mistakes are opportunities to learn and grow from.
- Good communication skills. Including the ability to professionally and effectively articulate technical challenges/solutions to colleagues and customers alike.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and root cause analysis skills.
- Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment working and communicating both in person and remotely with multiple teams across various geographical-locations.
- Familiarity with both Windows and Linux based server operating systems (Including remote troubleshooting and supporting related software.)
- Basic understanding of Operational support and key Dev/Ops support concepts such as Remote troubleshooting, Agile methodologies virtual machines, containerization, and hyperscalers.
- Some prior experience with using a command line interface as well as some familiarity with scripting, virtualization, containerization, and knowledge of source control software such as GitHub is desired for this role.
- Basic knowledge and familiarity with Hyperscalers – Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure desired.
- Familiarity or some prior experience working with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery/Deployment pipelines is also a plus.

The SAP Cloud Engineering Services team is a diverse group of talented individuals working remotely with colleagues spread across the globe who get to come in to work every day in support of both SAP’s existing on premise Fieldglass software as a service solution working to help shape and support the broader SAP Global 4+1 strategy shift towards containerization and The Cloud.
Our 24x7 365 follow the sun support team focuses on helping to keep our applications and services up and running for our customers as well as with key initiatives for the broader SAP business. This is to help our customers run simple and take their business evolution forward with a mixture of solutions onto hyperscalers as well as on premise data centers depending upon the unique goals of our clients.

Position title: Internship - Intern IT Data Center Support, Tech Ops –
Job Title: SAP Fieldglass iXp Intern – Cloud Engineering Services
Location: US (Remote) based out of Chicago, IL - With international colleagues in London, The U.A.E and Brisbane - Note the team remains fully remote at present and that internship roles will be fully remote until local guidelines ensure safe office reopening’s and then following a hybridized but primarily remote based working model thereafter.
Expected start date to end date: between March and June 2022 – August 2022 with an option to extend out the internship and (Ideally) convert upon graduation or return afterwards to join SAP Full Time.
