Due to rapid growth and increased demand for modern software applications for the world’s largest companies, VMware Tanzu is actively seeking a Field Marketing Intern within our AMER Field Marketing Team. This role will support the Field Marketing Managers with in-person and virtual event planning, traveling to be onsite for the event execution, as well as supporting the Business Development Representatives (BDR) team with the event promotion. The role will also involve supporting the Field Marketing Managers with administrative responsibilities (Marketo support, ticketing system, updating microsites, etc). The role will require the ability to travel to events, and work cross-functionally with the global Field Marketing team, BDR, demand gen, ABM, global events, product marketing, among others.
As the Field Marketing Intern your primary focus is aimed at supporting and collaborating with your team members anywhere where it is needed.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the 4 months you will work toward completing?
The primary objective of this position is to support the team with the planning, logistics, and execution of Field Marketing Events. In the first two month of this role you will be trained on the process for successfully planning, promoting and executing these programs.
You will also be trained on how to utilize a variety of administrative tools we use such as Marketo, Salesforce, Uberflip, and learn how to create and update our internal microsites and documents.
By month 3, we expect you to be confident executing these events and comfortable being on-site to manage logistics. You will be proficient in using the administrative tools to support the Field Marketing team’s day to day activities, ad-hoc requests, and have a broader understanding of creating successful regional Field Marketing programs.
What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Specific Job Responsibilities Include
Working with AMER Field Marketing managers and Global Events team on planning and Execution of Marketing event programs
Coordinating with third party vendors such as venues, catering, A/V, etc
Traveling to each event to manage the event operations with an onsite presence
Support the BDR team with driving registrations for Marketing event programs
Coordinate with our AMER Field Marketing managers to support and provide administrative team support
Maintain and update internal documents for the broader Field Marketing team
Build landing pages and microsites for virtual and in-person events and engagement
Work with cross-functional team members (Sales, Social, Design, Customer Marketing)
About You
Pursuing a BA/BS degree required with a focus in marketing, events, or communications
An ability to pick up new tools and concepts quickly
Organized and prepared for when things don’t go as planned
Previous relevant internship experience in event planning/administration support
Preferred Skills
Skilled in Zoom, Outlook, Google Drive, Excel, PowerPoint
Proficient in Website Development tools, Marketo, Salesforce, and/or equivalent
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
The manager for this position is Patrick Gillis. Patrick has 6 years of experience within field marketing and event marketing. He came to VMware Tanzu through the Pivotal acquisition in 2020 where he was supporting Americas Field Marketing. Since the acquisition, he has helped the team expand to 5 people and has been instrumental in creating impactful marketing programs such as virtual bourbon tasting events. He lives by the ocean in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and in his spare time is an avid water sports enthusiast, DJ, whiskey steward, and loves to explore the world through travel.

Remote: This role is fully remote and can be done anywhere in the U.S
