SUMMARY :
The Communication Specialist at a junior level will assist the National Parks and Public Lands Restoration Fund Program Management Office in administering the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) and Legacy Restoration Fund (LRF) at the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engage in promoting or creating an intended public image for individuals, groups, or organizations
- May write or select material for release to various communications media
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
- This position has no supervisory and/or managerial authority
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- One (1) to three (3) years’ communication specialist experience
- A minimum of bachelor’s degree is required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Active Public Trust
- Candidates must be US Citizens
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and judgment skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Candidates will be subject to a US Federal Government background investigation and must favorably pass a drug screen
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Remote work with occasional travel
Pursuant to U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, Cherokee Federal is now requiring that all employees be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by December 8th and going forward. Prospective employees will fall under this requirement and proof of vaccination will be required for on-boarding, should you be selected. Limited exemptions for religious or medical reasons will be considered.
TEMPORARY NOTE : On Tuesday, Dec. 7, a federal judge issued an injunction blocking President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for federal contractors (EO 14042). Cherokee Federal is monitoring the court case and awaiting a final ruling. As a result of the injunction, Cherokee Federal is halting the enforcement of the mandate, however, if the injunction is lifted and the mandate remains, Cherokee Federal must reenact its vaccine requirement.
Cherokee Nation Strategic Programs, LLC (CNSP) – Junior Communications Specialist :
Estimated Starting Salary Range: $ 60,000 - $ 50,000
CNSP offers discretionary annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
