Business Analyst, Federal Health and Civilian Market – Spring Co-op Intern (Part-time)

Overview:
This spring co-op will be fully remote and targeted to students in majors including business, finance, and economics. This Co-Op will be aligned to our Health and Civilian Market, which meets the needs of our customers in the Department of Health and Human Services, the Defense Health Agency and other elements of the Military Health System, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and a variety of federal civilian agencies including the Departments of State and Transportation, the General Services Administration, NASA, and the U.S. Postal Service. LMI’s consulting work in this Market ranges across the federal healthcare space—touching medical research and development, public health preparedness and response, healthcare provision and payment, and regulation—and supports civilian missions including space exploration, climate change mitigation, logistics management, and more.
This is a part-time position for the spring semester (February through May), estimated at 20 hours per week, with the potential for extension into a longer-term assignment and/or future assignments/rotations.

- Assist the Director, Health and Civilian Market Growth, with research, analysis, tracking, and reporting activities to support the smooth and effective management of the Health and Civilian Market’s growth function.
- Conduct market research, including research into business drivers, customers, competitors, and specific business opportunities, in support of the Market’s needs.
- Support the management and reporting of current, accurate opportunity pipeline information for use by Market leadership and others.
- Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.
- Support the development and coordination of briefing packages and content to include opportunity reviews and market analyses.
- Must be a candidate for an undergraduate or graduate degree in business administration, finance, economics, or a related major.
- Must be a student enrolled in a accredited college/university
- Availability to work part-time (20 hours per week) for 10-12 weeks (full-time availability for the Spring semester can also be considered).
- Must have a 3.0 GPA or better.
- Interest in learning about business management, sales, customer relationship management, and business development.
- Proficiency in the basic skills of research (for example, organizing and executing data queries, assessing source validity, conducting structured interviews, summarizing and analyzing information from qualitative and quantitative sources, etc.).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to compose and write a variety of internal and external documents, reports, and presentations.
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills required, with ability to develop and maintain professional relationships within LMI and with its clients.
- Strong problem solving, time-management, and organizational skills.
- Strong planning skills and the ability to coordinate and prioritize assignments with minimum supervision. Must be self-directed and detail oriented in completing assigned tasks and projects.
