The Aspen Institute Summer Internship Program employs rising college seniors or recent college graduates during the summer months in Aspen, Colorado. All internships are paid positions.
Timeline for internship program:

  • Begin accepting applications: January 3, 2022
  • Application Deadline: February 11
  • Interview dates: February 14 – 28
  • Employment notification: March 16
  • Position Start Date: May 31 in person, with potential to start remote work mid-May
  • Position End Date: Early August
  • Hours per Week: 40+ (overtime will be paid as applicable)

Compensation

  • $17 per hour plus 1.5 pay for overtime hours

Basic Function:
The intern will provide administrative support and general assistance for the Public Programs department, specifically by supporting the Festival’s Underwriter Managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Aspen Ideas Festival Responsibilities:

  • Assist Underwriter Manager by providing general administrative support for Aspen Ideas Festival underwriters. Past underwriters have included companies like Facebook, Google, Audi, and Comcast
  • Collecting and tracking all underwriter speaker registration, including bios, headshots, and speaker releases
  • Drafting and sending Paperless Post invitations for all private underwriter events
  • Maintaining RSVP lists for all private underwriter events
  • Providing logistical support for all private underwriter events
  • Trouble shooting issues during Fest 1 and Fest 2 regarding Underwriter program management
  • Support follow up efforts of the Public Programs team with all Underwriters
  • Other projects as needed

Other requirements:

  • Valid driver's license
  • We secure affordable housing for interns, but interns are responsible for covering the cost.
  • Authorized to work in the US

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience:

  • High attention to detail (proofreading, identifying key information)
  • Strong research skills (articles and facts/stats)
  • Outstanding communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Event production/execution experience preferred
  • Strong technology literacy and proficiency with the Microsoft Office
  • Must be enrolled in or recent graduate of an accredited college
