Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The summer internship program offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.

Intern – Health Equity & Patient Affairs:

The R&D Center for Health Equity and Patient Affairs has been developed to propel Takeda R&D to leadership in health equity and patient centricity. This initiative requires a variety of activities to which an intern would contribute in collaboration with HE&PA colleagues, including:

  • Researching geographies to identify potential communities with addressable health inequities for our organization to connect with consistent with conditions of interest

  • Development of digital tools to enable insights into patients and communities, and patient-centric interventions

  • Research and identification of partners across public, private and NGO sectors for potential collaboration to solve complex problems

  • Development of a playbook to support our Center of Excellence operating model

Preferences:

  • Degree or major consistent with digital innovations, public health, global health, communication or related degree.

  • A successful intern will be characterized by capabilities in one or more of a number of areas (see technical competencies), and a passion to find new ways to help patients and communities.

  • Interest in or understanding of one or more of the following areas is preferred but not required:

    • Health care

    • Public policy (could be health care but could really be any area that intersects with Social Determinants of Health, which is almost any public policy field, including, e.g., housing, transportation, economics)

    • Data analysis and digital

    • Project management

    • Engagement with multiple sectors, e.g., NGO, government, corporate; specific experience in “megacommunity” initiatives or community-based participatory research would be a plus

Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis

  • Must be available full time (40 hours/week) for a minimum of 12 weeks during the Summer months

  • Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0

  • Proficiency in MS Office

  • Undergraduate student returning to university for at least one semester post-internship

  • Must be deadline driven and have a high level of organizational and planning skills

  • The ideal candidate exhibits strong analytical, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills;

  • he or she also possesses the ability to work well in teams, effectively manage multiple projects, and present ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Global mindset to thrive in a diverse work environment

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • A major in business, a healthcare, pharmacy or life science field is preferred.

Salary & Location:

  • Intern pay rate ranges are from $18/hour to $45/hour, depending on students level in their undergraduate or graduate program and level professional experience.
  • Location is COVID-19 dependent, remote applicants may apply.
