Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Coordinator Intern

The Summer Internship Program is a vital piece of BECU’s hiring philosophy and strategy. Interns are assigned a mentor in the department in which they will be working. The intern will work closely with their mentor throughout the duration of the internship. The opportunity is more than “sit back and observe”, our interns are integrated into daily duties of their respective departments, attend various meetings, and assist on departmental projects as assigned. This role is remote eligible from WA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn fundamentals of leading Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work within an organization
  • Focus on Employees and Culture strategic focus of the department – helping to conduct external research of other institutions and provide recommendations for best practices for hiring and recruiting in Human Resources with an equity lens
  • Engage with Employee Resource Groups to coordinate leadership development opportunities – coordinating collaborative events and developing metrics
  • Co-lead development of a multicultural leadership development day focused on professional development for staff of color at all levels of the organization
  • Research tracking opportunities for tracking opportunities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organizations through meetings and project work

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Business or Human Resources, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion degrees preferred, others may be considered
  • Previous experience or course work with an emphasis in Human Resources; classes in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Business preferred
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7+ required
  • Proven leadership skills either on or off campus preferred
  • Community involvement/volunteerism preferred
  • Participation in extracurricular activities preferred
  • Able to commit to a 12-week program throughout summer
  • Comprehensive Excel skill preferred
  • Strong written communication skills preferred
