Affinity Marketing Coordinator Intern
The Summer Internship Program is a vital piece of BECU’s hiring philosophy and strategy. Interns are assigned a mentor in the department in which they will be working. The intern will work closely with their mentor throughout the duration of the internship. The opportunity is more than “sit back and observe”, our interns are integrated into daily duties of their respective departments, attend various meetings, and assist on departmental projects as assigned. This role is remote eligible from WA. This role does attend partner events or activations and might be asked to attend some partner events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The intern will be instrumental in assisting with planning and execution of partnerships and engaging our employee resource groups out at local community events including, but not limited to: UW, WSU, KEXP, Woodland Park ZooTunes, Seattle Mariners, Washington State Fair, and activations related to expansion markets.
In this role they will learn:
- Work with the Affinity team to learn the fundamentals of contract negotiation, vendor management, budgeting, campaigns, and reporting.
- Work cross functionally with Marketing, to learn the fundamentals of social media strategies, SEO, creative development process, and content management/marketing.
- Work cross functionally with Retail Market Development, to learn the basics of onsite event management, the credit union difference and BECU’s products/services.
- Assist business units across the credit union in planning and executing community events and partner activations.
- Assist in possible affinity credit card launch and debit card re-design projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Marketing or Business degrees preferred, others may be considered
- Previous experience or course work with Marketing, Sports Marketing, Business and Sponsorships preferred
- Experience with MS suite of products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PPT)
- Highly Organized
- Solutions oriented problem solver
- Cumulative GPA of 2.7+ required
- Proven leadership skills either on or off campus preferred
- Community involvement/volunteerism preferred
- Participation in extracurricular activities preferred
- Able to commit to a 12-week program throughout summer
- Comprehensive Excel skill preferred
- Strong written communication skills preferred
