Takeda Pharmaceutical 2022 Summer Internship - Global Clinical Supply Chain
About the role:
Takeda's summer internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.
Project Outline:
Takeda Global Clinical Supply Chain (GCSC) supports the end-to-end supply chain for clinical studies across all Therapeutic Area Units (TAUs), Plasma Derived Therapies (PDT), Vaccine Business Unit (VBU), and Global Medical Affairs (GMA). We can provide a mutually beneficial experience to the 2022 intern wherein they can learn more about operational elements of our supply chain, how we leverage technology/data and a look into how clinical supply chain contributed towards overall drug development. In turn, Takeda GCSC will be able to leverage the intern, based on their area of expertise and interest, to assist with various projects related to technology enhancement and continuous improvement.
For this role, the intern will have an opportunity to take part in process improvement activities including, but not limited to;
- Develop guidance for standard operating procedures (SOPs) used in historical operating models to support Takeda GCSC inspection readiness
- Develop and execute a plan to consolidate the current locations of Takeda GCSC files to a CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) compliant electronic file location
The intern will be paired with a Global Clinical Supply Chain team member throughout their internship to guide their experience in Takeda’s hybrid workplace with activities including, but not limited to;
- In-person or virtual onboarding: Assign an “onboarding buddy/Tomodachi” to help answer questions
- Include intern(s) in relevant meetings even if just to observe so that they can enhance their understanding of our business strategic priorities
- Invite intern(s) to social meetings to get familiar with team culture
- Introduce them to various cross functional members across all levels so that the intern(s) can build their professional network
- Assign weekly tasks and long-term projects to keep them engaged with their work
- Provide opportunities to present at team meetings to provide visibility
- Have frequent Quality Conversations to discuss progress and ensure they are getting the most out of the program.
How you will contribute:
- Deadline-driven with a high level of organizational and planning skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills; he or she also has the ability to work well in teams, effectively manage projects, and present ideas clearly and concisely.
- Global mindset to grow in a diverse work environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Basic understanding of drug development lifecycle, operations process improvement methodologies and project management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
What you bring to Takeda:
- Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis
- Must be available full time (40 hours/week) a minimum of 12 weeks during the Summer months
- Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0
- Undergraduate, Graduate, PhD, MD student with at least one year of university studies before internship.
- For Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students, a major in a healthcare, pharmacy or life science field is preferred.
- Return to university for at least one semester post-internship
- Takeda does not provide student housing or housing stipends
Salary & Location:
- Intern pay rate ranges are from $18/hour to $45/hour, depending on students level in their undergraduate or graduate program and level professional experience.
- Location is COVID-19 dependent, remote applicants may apply.
