Financial Planning Intern

The Financial Planning Intern is responsible for supporting the Planning team while they create comprehensive financial plans using personal planning software while taking client’s insurance, retirement, education, investment, needs and goals into account.


This internship will begin in December or January, interested candidates should have a minimum of 20 hours/week available between 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Ideally a candidate would have an open 'J-Term' and be able to work full-time (40 hours/week) for a month at the beginning of their internship and continue on with 20+ hours per week thereafter.


This is an in-person role without the opportunity to work remote. Ability to maintain position into the fall 2021 semester is preferred.

  • Prepare, complete and submit investment paperwork with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ensuring all client service issues are monitored and remedied

  • Assist in building comprehensive financial plans for clients using provided fact finders, statements, spreadsheets and other details.
  • Assist in performing analysis of current and potential client’s investment portfolios
  • Assist in preparing asset allocations and financial plan proposals via planning software
  • Implementing compliance best practices by preparing annual reviews, reallocating and rebalancing accounts, implementing recommendations and performing account maintenance as necessary
  • Optimizing growth in both advisory and brokerage accounts

Minimum Requirements:


  • Junior year in college
  • Financial related major

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the willingness to work with other teams in order to meet and exceed goals
  • Strong customer focus and excellent listening skills
