Indirect Dealer Lending Specialist Intern

The Summer Internship Program is a vital piece of BECU’s hiring philosophy and strategy. Interns are assigned a mentor in the department in which they will be working. The intern will work closely with their mentor throughout the duration of the internship. This role is remote eligible from WA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies, compliance, regulatory and Information Protection requirements.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of state and federal regulations pertaining to Consumer and Indirect Dealer Lending, how departments interact with the Indirect Lending department and all forms/documentation necessary for each type of loan made by the Indirect Lending department.
  • Audit the completion and accuracy of the loan application and other supporting documents upon receipt from dealers, entering application details and loan structure into the computer system, routing the appropriate documents for underwriting and funding.
  • Conduct proper review and control of loans, ensuring that documentation is complete and that all calculations are accurate and compliant.
  • Conduct interviews to obtain all information necessary to obtain loan funding documents from dealers and/or members.
  • Recommend changes to improve Indirect Dealer Lending loans, underwriting, and disbursement processes.
  • Maintain and review accounting reports, including balancing to GL accounts and maintaining service level spreadsheets.
  • Ensure that all members and dealerships receive prompt, efficient, and courteous service and that problems/complaints are resolved promptly and courteously, with follow through resolution.
  • Conduct Quality Control confirmation calls with members, soliciting their feedback about the dealership buying experience and validating information provided by dealerships.
  • Document individual Quality Control confirmation call information for use with Audit examinations, on-going Dealership Relationship, and lending program management.
  • Perform background checks on applicants for membership/lending purposes, including certifying and validating credit bureau Fraud/Credit Alerts directly with members prior to granting credit.
  • Recommend loan processing/credit exceptions to Consumer Loan Underwriting and/or Management, staying in conformance with lending policy, interest rates, and terms.
  • Analyze and understand credit reporting and scoring, validate member/dealer provided income and certify collateral security interest is pledged and is in the Credit Union’s best interest.
  • Perform APR validation on loan contracts utilizing validation tools, documenting results, performing buy-down calculations, documenting quotes and collecting buy-down payments.
  • Participate in technical project teams in the development of Credit Union products/services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Business/Finance/Accounting degrees preferred, others may be considered
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7+ required
  • Proven leadership skills either on or off campus preferred
  • Community involvement/volunteerism preferred
  • Participation in extracurricular activities preferred
  • Able to commit to a 12-week program throughout summer
  • Comprehensive Excel skill preferred
  • Strong written communication skills preferred
