About the role:
Takeda's summer internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.
Project Outline:
The summer intern will work on the US Medical New Product Planning (NPP) team, working closely with the NPP Medical Directors and other medical teams on early pipeline products. The intern will assist with developing medical strategies and understand gaps in knowledge in specific diseases of interest. The intern will also assist with evaluation of processes to identify a unified perspective on medical considerations for launch excellence and will be exposed to Takeda’s Evidence Generation process
The intern will specifically:
- Assists in the development of the Medical strategy and launch planning framework for clinical stage pipeline products and partners with US medical cross-functional teams to execute.
- Participates and manages resources needed to support US Medical Affairs activities such as medical and scientific training, advisory boards, and medical conferences.
- Participates in cross-functional meetings with USBU New Product Planning team, USBU Franchise leadership, US and Global Medical Functional leaders, and TA Medical Heads to develop target product profiles, understand customer needs, and gain insight on competitive landscape and other market considerations.
- Interacts with external societies and advocacy groups as appropriate
- Participates in the assimilation, dissemination and archival product of medical and scientific content developed for internal and external USMO materials.
- Collaborates with relevant Global functions to highlight US-specific needs for clinical study endpoints to ensure US needs are represented in ongoing clinical development program, or where appropriate, other Global-driven initiatives.

- Experience with Microsoft program experience (WORD, Powerpoint, Excel, etc)
What you bring to Takeda:
- Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis
- Must be available full time (40 hours/week) a minimum of 12 weeks during the Summer months
- Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0

Undergraduate, Graduate, PhD, MD student with at least one year of university studies before internship.
- Working towards an advanced degree (e.g., PharmD/PhD/MD) in a medical or science-related specialty.
- Return to university for at least one semester post-internship
- Takeda does not provide student housing or housing stipends

Location & Salary Information:
- Summer 2021 Internship role will be remotely based
- Intern pay rate ranges are from $18/hour to $45/hour, depending on students level in their undergraduate or graduate program and level professional experience
