Opportunities may include (but are not limited to):
  • Content Distribution (Remote): Content Distribution is a division of NBCUniversal that drives the North American distribution of the company's multi-billion dollar television portfolio to cable, satellite and telco providers, as well as live streaming services, and other digital platforms. Interns will support the Legal team in the drafting and analysis of the group’s contracts and perform strategic research in support of the department’s future transactions. The intern will manage a rolling series of tasks that support all the team’s distribution responsibilities, including TV network distribution to traditional cable and satellite as well as virtual TV providers, Peacock app distribution, and free ad-supported streaming.
  • Entertainment Networks: The Entertainment Networks Business & Legal Affairs team is looking for a law student candidate as part of the Summer 2022 internship program to provide support in relation to all aspects of content acquisition for NBCU's direct-to-consumer streaming service (Peacock) and its portfolio of television entertainment networks (NBC, USA, Bravo, Syfy, E! and Oxygen), including a wide range of issues relating to the licensing of film, television, news, sports, live events and original programming. Day-to-day tasks may include:
  • Global Distribution & International (Remote): NBCUniversal Domestic Distribution and Global Distribution and International is responsible for the distribution of NBCUniversal product to all forms of television and new media in the U.S. and internationally. This includes a rich library of more than 4,000 feature films and 100,000 television episodes, including current and classic titles, non-scripted programming, sports, news, long-form and short-form programming, and locally produced content from around the world. Global Distribution and International is a division of Comcast NBCUniversal. The Business and Legal Affairs team supports the Global Distribution and International Sales team by providing ongoing counsel, advice and legal documentation related to business and legal issues. An intern in our department will work on various licensing agreements and other contracts related to the licensing of film and television content to various local television broadcasters internationally and global digital media platforms. Through this experience, interns will be exposed to lawyers, sales executives, marketing and technology experts and various legal matters.
  • Music Business & Legal Affairs: The NBCUniversal Music Business & Legal Affairs team services an array of clients in the Film & Television portfolios. Filmed Entertainment encompasses the Universal Pictures Group, Focus Features, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, and Brand Development. The overall landscape of Film includes distinct business functions that each touch a key segment area in the overall lifecycle of a film, from ideation to premiere. On the TV side there is a vast portfolio of sports, news networks, streaming, entertainment networks, significant television production operations, including scripted, alternative and late night, and a leading television stations group.
  • Peacock Business & Legal Affairs (Remote): The Peacock Business & Legal Affairs team consists of lawyers, paralegals and professional staff. The team is divided into three main areas: (1) Transactions, (2) Marketing, and (3) Regulatory. The legal intern would support both the Transactions and Marketing legal teams and would dually report to senior lawyers in each area. This would include general marketing guidance, preparing summaries and self-helps tools, preparing draft agreements based on a template, and observing deal negotiations and attorney-client interactions.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • In pursuit of a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.

Additional Job Requirements

  • If selected for an in-person internship, must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.

  • Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.

  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or must undergo regular COVID-19 testing if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite.

  • Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols.
