Serco’s Training and Experience Program (STEP) is designed to provide undergraduate university and college students paid accredited internship opportunities to gain meaningful, hands-on work experience in a professional environment. Serco offers internship opportunities across the following three career tracks: Business, Technical, and Engineering. Our 2022 internship opportunities are available throughout the U.S. and Canada and begin on May 23rd and conclude on August 12th, with 1 week off July 4th – 8th. You will work with your manager to identify the best working schedule for you – working no more than an average of 36 hours a week with the added perk of half-days on Fridays.

In addition to gaining hands-on experience, you will attend training sessions taught by skilled leaders in our company which provides training to better prepare you for a full-time career. These training sessions range from finance, personality in the workplace, presentation skills, resume building, and more. In addition, we believe great ideas come from all levels of the company! Because of that, each year we challenge our interns to work in diverse teams to develop, propose and execute on a project that improves our ways of working. Throughout this project you will work with Senior Sponsors and meet with members of our Executive Team.

Position Description
Serco’s Federal Civilian (FedCiv) Services business unit manages high-trust, scalable, mission critical service programs for its Federal Civilian clients. We provide dedicated people and efficient technology-enabled processes to deliver outstanding consumer outcomes and benefit/eligibility services.

The Federal Civilian Services business unit currently has a $2.9B pipeline of new business development opportunities in various stages of qualification. To support this pipeline of new business development opportunities, the FedCiv Business Unit is hiring a driven innovative Business Development Intern who will work with the Business Unit Vice President and the Business Development team to document/update opportunity data in Serco's GovWin platform. In this role, you will also support the development of Gate 1 - Gate 4 review slide decks that will be presented to the Business Lifecycle Review Team executives to qualify target opportunities, and will use available data retrieved from GovWinIQ and coordinate with the business development, operations, and the opportunity capture team, etc. to develop draft Gate 1 - Gate 4 review decks.

In this internship, you will compile, maintain, verify, and may interpret data in accordance with plans developed by others. You will also perform basic trend analyses of data to identify any potential technical and management problems and assist with drafting reports of findings along with related documentation for higher level review, and perform a variety of tasks typically under general supervision, but a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

During this internship, you will work with our Federal Civilian Services Senior Management Team and Business Development team. You will also gain exposure to our Executive Management Team as we qualify and pursue strategic opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities in the Federal Civilian marketplace,
  • Participate in new business capture and solutioning meetings and complete actions resulting from those meetings,
  • Work with the business development and program teams to complete Gate Review slide decks,
  • Perform research to identify new opportunities and new client agencies to market that align with our Federal Civilian Services capabilities,
  • Perform market research and competitive analysis for new/existing opportunities
  • Conduct ad hoc and strategic market research.
  • Collaborate with and support the business development and program organizations to develop/revise their strategic business plans, as needed.
Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Preferred fields of study: Political Science, Marketing, Economics, or a related field of study.
  • Ideal candidates are rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Adept in performing research using on-line tools and services.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work initiative and attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating in a team environment.
  • Passion for learning with a wide degree of creativity and curiosity.
