Program Description
**This internship is offered in a hybrid format – working virtually as well as in person onsite at either the Serco headquarters office in Herndon, VA or Serco office in Crystal City, Maryland. Serco’s Training and Experience Program (STEP) is designed to provide undergraduate university and college students paid accredited internship opportunities to gain meaningful, hands-on work experience in a professional environment. STEP emphasizes developing the workforce of the future. Our goal is to help you build a career roadmap that provides you with challenging and rewarding learning experiences with Serco.
Serco offers internship opportunities across the following three career tracks: Business, Technical, and Engineering. Our 2022 internship opportunities are available throughout the U.S. and Canada and begin on May 23rd and conclude on August 12th, with 1 week off July 4th – 8th. You will work with your manager to identify the best working schedule for you – working no more than an average of 36 hours a week with the added perk of half-days on Fridays.

In addition to gaining hands-on experience, you will attend training sessions taught by skilled leaders in our company which provides training to better prepare you for a full-time career. These training sessions range from finance, personality in the workplace, presentation skills, resume building, and more. In addition, we believe great ideas come from all levels of the company! Because of that, each year we challenge our interns to work in diverse teams to develop, propose and execute on a project that improves our ways of working. Throughout this project you will work with Senior Sponsors and meet with members of our Executive Team.

Position Description
Serco’s Cyber team works within our agile staffing model to provide cyber security support to our Defense, Federal and Commercial clients. Our team spans the full spectrum of cybersecurity and has earned an excellent reputation for delivering effective solutions that enhance a clients’ ability to achieve their missions, harden advanced combat capabilities, adapt to change, and protect vital networks. Our cyber professionals have been on the leading edge of integrating cyber resilience during development of critical systems and employing innovative technologies to implement every step of the RMF from preparing systems for authorization to continuous monitoring of system and control level risk. As the Cyber Security Intern, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience in a real-world environment. During your internship, you will gain exposure to the multiple customers across Defense, Homeland Security, Health and Commercial industries.

  • Serve as a IT/Cyber subject matter expert working on project teams with other consultants representing multi-disciplinary skillsets
  • Contribute to the development of a variety of technical documents requiring IT best practices and Cyber content
  • Develop customer briefings and support meetings
  • Support bid and proposal efforts involving IT/Cyber expertise
  • Contribute to customer engagement and business development efforts
  • Support project teams to develop executable analytic solutions


  • S. Citizen with the ability to attain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Preferred fields of study: Cyber Security or related discipline.
  • Ideal candidates are rising juniors, seniors, or Spring 2022 graduates.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including some experience with Excel.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong requirements gathering and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work initiative and attention to detail.
