Governance, Risk, and Compliance Analyst Intern

The Information Services Division (ISD) is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as an IT Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Intern. The GRC team within ISD is responsible for ensuring agency policies are up-to-date and in compliance with regulatory standards, conducting internal and external IT audits, conducting IT risk assessments, and managing the security awareness and training program. The GRC Intern will gain critical, real-world experience in health care compliance and regulations, including ensuring HIPAA and CMS requirements are met. This is a remote position and all candidates must reside in Arizona. A current college transcript must be attached with a resume to apply.

Job Duties:
What you will do:
  • Assist in updating and revising internal policies to align with regulatory and information security standards.
  • Assist with information security reviews/audits of external entities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Assist the IT GRC team in conducting internal information security audits.
  • Analyze and summarize results of security awareness assessments.
  • Conduct internal user account audits.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Progression toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Health Care Compliance and Regulations, Information Technology, or related field.
  • A current GPA standing of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a virtual office setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and across the organization.
Selective Preference(s):
  • Knowledge of health care laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with COSO Framework, COBIT, NIST 800-53
