About the position
Showpad is looking for an eager Junior Cloud Native Engineer to join our User Activation team. Our ideal candidate is enthusiastic about working professionally in an AWS serverless environment to deliver communications services to our customers.
As a Junior Cloud Native Engineer on Showpad's User Activation team, you'll be working with bright colleagues in multiple tech disciplines to deliver AWS serverless solutions for notifications, emails, universal links, and more!
Key responsibilities as a Junior Cloud Native Engineer at Showpad
- Learn and adopt the latest language and framework advances in AWS Serverless.
- Use of technologies such as AWS Lambda (Swift and Typescript), API Gateway, Typescript CDK, and Pinpoint to deliver client message and notification solutions.
- Continuous deployment into tenant-secured environments and working on problems such as concurrency optimization and email sending domain customizations.
- Be a major contributor to an enterprise product that has over 50,000 active users and have a significant impact on their experience
- Work closely with our best-in-class cloud ops and backend engineers to continuously sharpen each other's skills through code reviews, technology guild days, pair programming and agile delivery methodologies
Skills and Qualifications we are looking for
- Proven interest, fundamental understanding, and experience with core AWS services (S3, EC2, IAM, Lambda, API Gateway) and backend development.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field / professional experience.
- Experience with at least one of the following languages: Java, Kotlin, Typescript, Javascript, Swift.
- Understanding of cloud native concepts including pros and cons of specific managed services.
- Familiar with IaC (infrastructure as code) concepts. CDK/Terraform/Cloudformation experience is a plus.
- Basic HTTP and REST API understanding.
- Exposure to reactive (Rx) programming concepts.
- Experience with dependency management systems.
- Knowledge or experience with Agile Software Development methodologies
- Understanding of common data structures and algorithms.
- Knowledge of backend core concepts such as queues, concurrency, and data storage.
- Understanding of NoSQL vs MySQL databases
- Recognizes the importance of unit testing, TDD, and code reviews.
- AWS certifications are a plus.
