Hitachi Energy is seeking a Summer 2022 Transmission Resource Pricing Research Intern (Remote) for its Raleigh, NC location. Hitachi Energy has an open position of Research Internship for transmission resource pricing in electricity market operation. You will work under the guidance and supervision of designated researcher to investigate transmission resource pricing methodologies. The internship is with the North America Hitachi Energy Research center (Raleigh, NC) and will be held remotely in the US.
Your responsibilities
- Perform literature survey and review on transmission resource pricing and electricity market operations
- Develop proof of concept experiment/simulation for fast validation of hypothesis
- Prepare report and publication based on work performed
Your background
- Currently enrolled in MS / PhD in Electrical and Computer engineering in an accredited university program in the US
- Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Working knowledge of optimal power flow (OPF) or DC-OPF
- Able to set up constrained optimization model from problem definition, instantiate on common modeling environment
- Conceptual understanding of ISO operation
- Working knowledge of LMP, congestion component
- Prior experience with OPF, DC-OPF, or SCUC is beneficial
- Prior exposure to or familiarity with transmission demand curve, transmission shortage pricing is beneficial
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English
