What Will You Work On?
To accomplish the two directives above, a Baseball Operations Intern will spend their time working on projects like:

- Improving our Advanced Scouting Offerings for MLB Clients
- Answering discrete internal R&D based questions and requests from the pitching floor, hitting floor, and HP floor on topics ranging from biomechanics to sabermetrics.
- Leveraging Collegiate Data and Driveline’s platform to provide amateur coaches and players with professional-grade tools, models, and insights
- Validating and pairing new 3rd party technologies
- Finding new data streams, as well as maintaining and improving existing data pipelines for various third-party API/data streams and internal databases
- Writing blogs that communicate internal findings to the larger baseball community
What Will We Provide You?
This is a hands-on opportunity to interface directly with some of the premier coaches, athletes, and analysts in the world on a daily basis.

This isn’t a front-office position where you’ll be working on one project that may or may not reach production-level by the end of the Summer.
For this reason and others, the vast majority of our former interns in R&D have found success breaking into the industry full-time or staying on with Driveline in some capacity.
What Are You Really Good At?
- Writing in major programming languages like R and/or Python (specifically, experience with data analysis and visualization)
- Maintaining and exploring databases (MySQL experience preferred)
- Working with Statcast Data and understanding the nuances of publicly available pitch-level datasets
- Constructing and deploying machine learning models in production level code
- Translating highly technical topics into digestible information for coaches and athletes
What Are You Even Better At?
- Asking novel and relevant questions about the game of baseball that push our industry forward
Requirements
- Must be able to stand for 4+ hours straight
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds
