JOB SUMMARY
BioCryst is seeking a summer intern, who will assist the lab manager in various daily tasks and assist scientists in performing analytical testing of drug substance and drug products according to written standard operating procedures (SOPs) and test methods.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparation of mobile phases, standards, samples, and other laboratory solutions according to test methods.
- Assist scientists in running and executing experiments using analytical methods
- Perform dissolution studies as outlined by scientists
- Trend stability data
- Clean glassware and organize the lab
- Perform other duties as needed to enable efficient operation of the laboratory; may include laboratory inventory and ordering, submission of samples to external testing facilities, and data filing.
- Maintain personal training record.
- All other duties as assigned by the lab manager.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Rising science student in their senior year, chemistry major preferred
- Detail oriented with the ability to work in an organized manner, and excellent documentation practices.
- Able to meet deadlines, accomplish work in order of priority, and easily adjust to new situations.
- HPLC and other analytical techniques experience is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in team environment.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Must be available to work 30 hours/week during the period of the summer internship
- Must be able to report to the office in Birmingham, AL.
