Rate Analyst (Jr. Data Analyst)
This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.! Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for a Rate Analyst to join our team. This position offers the flexibility to be fully remote working within a reasonable commuting distance from one of our Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, or Anchorage offices.
This position is responsible for the system setup and maintenance pertaining to timekeeper, matter, and client rate arrangements, reporting on and auditing rates within the billing system, and providing rate information to various teams within the firm. This position will work with the Billing team to edit and maintain the firm’s rates and with the Pricing team to identify pricing opportunities through proactive outreach to firm partners and clients.

On a typical day you will:
- Serve as primary firm contact for attorneys seeking information about client and matter level rate arrangements
- Own the data collection, analysis, and communication portions of the firm’s annual exception rate review and e-billed client rate review processes
- Identify and provide information to the Pricing team on potential pricing opportunities
- Set up new timekeepers and maintain status of existing timekeepers in financial system
- Enter new or update existing client/matter billing rates; review and modify new matter intake where needed
- Review client engagement letters and outside counsel guidelines; update matters for compliance with listed requirements, including coding cost exceptions
- Create and maintain an electronic folder/database of top client and matter rate arrangements
- Monitor and maintain client volume discounts in the billing system
- Work closely with E-Billing team to ensure proactive submission of timekeepers and rates to prevent invoice rejection
- Provide assistance to internal clients regarding rate and pricing questions, including providing historical context for rate arrangements and producing various statistical reports, Excel spreadsheets/pivot tables, and SQL queries
- Produce Excel spreadsheets for the purpose of individual or batch rate loads into financial system
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality. Adhere to schedule by being timely on breaks, lunches and meetings

- Finance or Accounting Degree or relevant equivalent experience is required
- 3+ years relevant experience in an automated accounting department, preferred
- Demonstrated high level of ability to use MS Excel required
- Knowledge of Elite Enterprise or Aderant software preferred
- Knowledge of SQL/SSMS and/or Tableau preferred
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent customer service required
- Must perform well under pressures of deadlines, heavy volumes, and requests
- Ability to prioritize multiple time-sensitive requests to ensure prompt service
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently
- Must be a team player and have ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
- Previous experience in a law firm or professional services organization, supporting a multi-office environment, preferred
- Ability to work overtime as needed
