Information Technology Intern

The Intern, Information Technology will support Broadstone’s Information Technology team to ensure company technology operates efficiently, effectively, and securely while providing the highest level of service to employees possible. This internship will support the day-to-day operational activities of technology deployment and help-desk support. The ideal candidate will possess basic network administration and troubleshooting skills along with general knowledge of Microsoft Office/Office 365. The candidate must have effective communication skills to assist users at all levels of technical knowledge. This position reports to the Manager, Information Technology.
Essential Internship Duties & Responsibilities:
- Learn and develop skills in information technology while providing customer service to our user community
- Provide technical support for users in the organization (in-person, virtually, and by phone) including regional office, home office, and remote support
- Contact IT vendors for assistance in problem resolution and technical support
- Administer new and existing user properties and permissions in Active Directory, Office 365 Admin Portal, and GoToConnect Phone System
- Continuously support and maintain user account information
- Active Directory setups, changes, clean up and modifications to distribution lists
- Deploy new equipment such as laptops, printers, VoIP phones, access points, and other peripherals
- Migrate user data and applications to their newly deployed laptops through partition cloning and conversion
- Replace or upgrade hardware in user laptops (non-functioning parts or SSD/RAM installs)
- Review tickets and reporting in SysAid; Capture status updates with accurate notes
- Support organization exchange management
- In collaboration with the Manager, Information Technology, order equipment/software for company inventory; Validate hardware and software inventory
- Monitor and make changes to the Sophos UTM network firewall as needed
- Pull detail and set-up reports for SOX, internal reviews, and compliance reports
- Vulnerability remediation on end user workstations as needed
- Read manuals and technical reports to best meet staff and user requirements
- Executes duties and maintains standards in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as required
Skills/Qualifications:
- General knowledge of Windows operations systems, MS Office Suite, Office 365 and SharePoint
- Able to conduct and analyze research on IT related items
- Ability to assess the scope of problems and service requests, respond with the appropriate sense of urgency and deliver a high level of service
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to assist users at all levels of technical knowledge
- Organized and detail-oriented with an ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
- Able to interpret and document process flows and IT procedures
- Solid work ethic and a professional, proactive, and positive approach to work
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Education/Experience:
- Progress toward a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field; undergraduate juniors preferred
- Experience in technology support within a corporate environment a plus
- General knowledge of Microsoft underlying technologies
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Environment and Physical Demands:
- Professional office environment with routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets; noise level typical of a standard office environment
- Prolonged sitting, computer and telephone use, as well as standing, filing, stooping, bending, reaching and lifting, and carrying up to 35 pounds
