Job Description
About the role:
Takeda's summer internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.
Project Outline:
Neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s are devastating diseases and lack treatment options that are capable of slowing down or reversing disease progression. Takeda is currently pursuing a number of therapeutic approaches for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. While there have been multiple publications pointing to different pathways responsible for disease progression, there is still a poor understanding of the processes and mechanisms responsible for neurodegeneration. To address this gap, Takeda’s Quantitative Solution’s group is searching for a highly motivated candidate, who will compile and integrate in vitro, in vivo and clinical data and leverage various modeling approaches to help inform our understanding of the biological processes involved in neurodegeneration. The candidate will develop a mathematical framework of the relevant pathways and evaluate their role in disease progression based on weight of evidence coming from various data sources. This work will help inform the quantitative relationship between drug targets, pathway biomarkers, and clinical endpoints in order to improve drug development.
