Job Description


Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. RMHC strives to be part of the solution to issues challenging families today. Families are challenged with how to stay near and support a hospitalized child; how to afford staying together in another city while a child is undergoing treatment; or even getting basic medical and dental care in underserved communities. We use our resources and partnerships in the community to help families gain access to healthcare services and keep families together during critical points in their children's lives.

Position Purpose:

The Marketing and Development team (MARDEV) is responsible for creating and executing the organization’s global marketing and fundraising strategies. As such, the team is responsible for an average annual Global fundraising revenue of $80 million.

MARDEV is responsible for the strategy and execution of progressing individuals, foundations, and corporations though the donor cycle—identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Philanthropic gifts and in-kind donations to RMHC are secured through an array of tactics including: individual major gifts; annual giving; foundation grants; corporate and supplier partnerships; peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns; planned giving; McDonald’s facilitated fundraising activities; and cause related marketing campaigns. As part of an international federated charity, MARDEV also serves as a collaborative resource across the entire RMHC Chapter system in 62 countries and regions. In partnership with local Chapters, MARDEV will gather industry data and share fundraising strategies and tactics.

The team oversees the RMHC brand including compliance, consistency, positioning and communication across the entire RMHC Chapter system in 62 countries and regions. MARDEV creates the brand strategy and guidelines while serving as a brand consultant for the individual Chapters. In addition, the team executes Global tactics that support and increase awareness for the brand and the RMHC mission. The team also manages the interface between RMHC and the McDonald’s Global/U.S. marketing and communications relationships to ensure continuity and promote co-brand building.


Qualifications


Principle Accountabilities:

To support the function, we are looking for the Fundraising and Development Intern to support our individual giving efforts and philanthropic priorities for RMHC. Key areas of focus will include:

  • Collaboration with Individual Giving team to support donor-related activities including:
    • Direct Mail and Email Program
    • Donor inquiries
    • Peer-to-peer fundraising efforts
  • Assisting in preparing email, print, and other donor communication to advance cultivation and stewardship strategies for lead annual gift and major gift donors/prospects.
  • Partnering with the Data team to track information, aggregate prospect notes into CRM, and prepare reports
  • Identifying and researching potential major gift prospects and present findings to Relationships Managers on Individual Giving team
  • Investigating areas of opportunity related to donor stewardship

Qualifications:

You’re a Junior working towards your Bachelor’s degree with a graduation date in Fall 2022 or Spring 2023

  • Preferred majors include: Communications, Nonprofit Administration
  • Interest in fundraising and development at an internationally recognized non-for-profit organization
  • Have a college GPA of at least 3.0
  • Can work Monday-Friday during all 10 weeks (6/6-8/12) of the internship
  • You’re committed to a culture of inclusiveness
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Energy and passion for the RMHC mission
  • Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date
