This internship will be working on the Shiseido brand within Shiseido’s prestigious portfolio of luxury brands.
Description
The Shiseido Summer Internship program is a paid, full time 9-week program for college rising Juniors or Seniors. Throughout the program, Summer Interns will gain hands-on experience at one of the top cosmetic companies in the world while working on meaningful projects, networking, participating in professional development workshops, speaker series, and more!
What You’ll Do Work alongside your manager to build your acumen in the selected department and integrate with your team Attend team meetings, assist with departmental tasks and network within the business Participate in professional development, speaker series, and additional social programming events specifically designed for the summer interns Create and present a project to senior leadership generated around true business opportunity
Responsibilities
Summary:
Analytical lab intern is expected to assist chemists in their lab work. Training will be provided. Special assignment may be assigned to the individual as needed.
Under the supervision of chemists and other team members, they perform repetitive lab activities, such as preparing sample / chemical solutions and weighing production samples including data entry. They may also conduct tests, interpret and analyze data, compile results, prepare reports, and present his/her conclusions. As time progresses, lab intern can conduct a greater number of tasks.
The individual would have opportunities to learn the concept of GLP (Good lab Practice) as well as the skills -- state of arts analytical instruments and be able to operate instruments independently.
Tasks:
What actions, activities and/or resources are required to achieve the goal/project?
Ideally the individual needs to have some basic chemistry/chemical background. Some lab experience would be helpful but not required. Familiarity of Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Power point) is required. Must be able to commute and work in lab waring lab coat and safety glasses.
What special equipment, techniques, software, etc., will the intern learn or use in accomplishing the above tasks?
Perkin Elmer’s elemental analyzer ICP (Inductive Coupled Plasma); Shimatzu HPLC (High Pressure Liquid Chromatography) system (hardware and software); Other wet chemistry techniques, such as chemical extraction manually and instrumentally and sample digestion.
What are the key deliverables?
Be able to operate instruments independently and participate the main lab projects related to instrument validation; method validation; raw materials qualifications for existing and new formularies. A presentation is expected at the end of internship terms to lab management.
Who is invited to the final intern project presentation?
Department Head, Lab Manager, Sr. Chemist, Chemists)
Requirements/Qualifications
Must be a rising Junior or Senior in college working towards a bachelor’s degree
Commutable (car) from home to East Windsor site during weekdays.
Chemistry Major preferred. Chemistry major related (Biochemistry, etc.) can be considered.
Willingness to learn new things quickly as well as performing repetitive procedures
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and be highly organized
Maintain professionalism while interacting with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Energetic, self-motivated, results oriented
Flexible and able to function in a fast-paced, digital-first, work environment
Have a passion for cosmetics, beauty, fragrance and consistently keep up to date with emerging trends
Additional Information: Interns will be selected on a rolling basis and will be notified by a member of the recruiting team if selected for an interview. This program may be hybrid or fully remote depending on your function and individual team needs.
