What type of work will you be doing an intern? What assignments or requirements will you be performing on a regular basis?
Depending on your background, interest, and technical alignment to the various areas of MAMBG technology stack, you could be working on team projects. The most important item to remember about a VMware as an intern is that it’s all about potential and learning. We want our interns to be well rounded individuals driven to learn new things.
As an intern on this team, you’ll work on:
Tasks and projects that will connect seemingly disparate aspects of the computer science field: from software development to networking and more. Topics may include the networking OSI model, large scale infrastructure, DevOps, etc.
Installing, managing, and operating large, distributed systems from the perspective of both platform engineers and software developers.
Building custom software solutions that support Platform Services delivery in an Agile environment
Developing your professional and consultative skills through: shadowing engagements with our clients, various facilitation and presentation opportunities, mentorship and pairing with our team members, and more
Preparing for the Certified Kubernetes Administrator or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer exams as seen fit.
You will also be introduced to various modern best practices and technologies, such as: Kubernetes, Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Native Development (12-factor), Agile, Platform as a Product, Secure Software Supply Chain, Networking, and more
What are skills that would be helpful for a successful internship?
Rising Juniors and Seniors pursuing a BS or BA in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or similar
Interest in networking, infrastructure, software development, product management
Curiosity and desire to learn how large, distributed systems are built, maintained, and used by platform engineers and software developers.
Knowledge in one or more of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, GoLang, Python, HTML, Spring, C, C++, or C#
Strong communication skills
Eagerness to work in a teamwork/collaborative environment
