This is a temporary position in the Information Technology Department which assists & works under the guidance of the Network Administration Supervisor & permits exposure to the student’s field of study &/or provides experience that is a useful addition to the student’s education & meaningful preparation for future professional employment.

Student should be enrolled in college degree program directly related to the IT field.

Assists in performing helpdesk support such (e.g. answering calls, troubleshooting software (e.g. Microsoft Office, CAD software, operating systems), troubleshooting hardware & communication devices (e.g. desktops, laptops, smart phones, network switches). Provides support in performing system maintenance (e.g. assists in installing cables, performs minor hardware repairs). Responds to user inquiries & assists/trains users with complex hardware & software.

Performs hardware installations & upgrades. Unpacks, sets up, & configures computers, monitors, printers, telephones & other networking equipment. Install, configure & upgrade software on office computers. Troubleshoots software, hardware & communication problems with equipment. Assists in installation & testing of local area network (LAN) cables & phone lines at remote locations.

Gathers information on hardware inventory & software inventory. Performs data entry into inventory tracking software and/or spreadsheets. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Qualifications

Must currently be enrolled in a college or university and in good academic standing.

Must show proof of valid driver's license in order to operate state vehicle.
Preferred Major: Information Technologies

Rate of Pay is based on academic school year.

  • Freshman and Sophomore = $15.46/hr.
  • Junior and Seniors = $15.96/hr.
  • Graduate Students = $19.41/hr.

The final applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to appointment to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment.
This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.
