The Environmental Health and Safety Intern position will be working in our Employee Health and Safety Group.
We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic student to join our team as an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer Summer Intern. An EHS Engineer Intern will perform industrial air and noise sampling, update an EHS training database, assist/perform plant safety inspections, assist with chemical inventory and participate in employee training programs. Interns will work with and independent of EHS personnel performing additional EHS duties, such as: assisting mobile equipment experts in the development of a database of cranes/slings and below the hook devices for a specific operation, completing machine guarding assessments on multiple pieces of shop floor equipment, and participating in incident investigations.
Basic Requirements:
- Minimum completion of Sophomore level coursework from an accredited institution.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Junior or Senior status preferred
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Occupational Safety, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- Relevant internship/work/research experience a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Ability to work in a self-directed or team environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills
