BASIC FUNCTION:
The Evaluation Services Intern position is used to introduce the basic concepts of collateral appraisal and valuation. The focus will be on learning to identify, inspect and value different types of real property and chattel. The position will include using the AgWare Maven/Chattel tool and the DataLog sales data base. The Intern will work with Association Appraisers, Valuators, Chattel Evaluators and Appraisal Operations Support staff.
The Evaluation Services Intern will assist with the collaboration with other team members, as well as other Hub Team and Retail Team members from lending, underwriting and operations to help to ensure high quality, timely and accurate service to customers and/or internal teams
The summer internship program generally lasts 10 weeks beginning in late May and ending in early August.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Real Estate Focus:
- Learn the processes of real estate appraisal through one-on-one mentorship
- Learn about the three approaches to value (real estate) and the basic principles of property appraisal
- Assist in report-writing and market area updates
- Assist with sales confirmations, realtor calls, and write-ups of market sales
- Accompany appraisers on appraisal inspections
Chattel Focus:
- Learn the processes of chattel evaluations through one-on-one mentorship
- Understand how to verify and determine the value of personal property such as crops, cattle, equipment, or inventory
- Compiling information on input, production, and processing costs, crop and livestock prices equipment sales and other economic data
- Accompany chattel evaluators on chattel or crop inspections
General Duties
- Effectively works with customers and other Association employees.
- Monitor follow-up requirements in assigned areas.
- Initiate written and telephone communications to obtain information and related documents.
- Perform other duties assigned.
LEVELS OF SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:
The position reports to a Regional Appraisal/Chattel Manager and will be supported by a designated Intern Mentor appointed from the regional appraisal staff. This position does not include a supervisory role.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least a Junior in collage working towards a BS/BA degree in agriculture, business administration, finance, accounting, economics, or other related field.
- Ability to work well with people at all levels; exercise initiative; convey ideas clearly; make sound appraisal decisions.
- Ability to communicate/coordinate effectively with all levels of management throughout AAC. Ability to work harmoniously with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Able to undertake a moderate level of travel in performance of job.
- Demonstrated ability to generate highly accurate work.
- Must be proficient in organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional persuasive and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in the use of PC, including e-mail, word processing and electronic spreadsheet software.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting. Employee will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk, work at a computer, or riding in a vehicle. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Ability to talk and hear, sit, use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Some lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds required. Work during established business hours. Other physical activities may include adjusting, balancing, climbing, connecting, crawling, crouching, digging, feeling, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, operating, pulling pushing, reaching, reading, repetitive motions, standing, stooping, talking, walking, writing, measuring, physical observation, and driving. Must have a valid Class C driver’s license.
PART-TIME REMOTE/HYBRID:
These employees will work partly remote and partly onsite. Part-time remote employees will work with their managers to determine when and how often they are needed onsite.
COMPENSATION:
$20/Hour
