The Software Development Engineer in Test is responsible for analysis, testing and test automation of integrated software products. The goal is to produce high quality code for a technology organization that is responsible for applications that manage the end to end testing experience, from registration and payments, to test construction and delivery, through result and business reporting and intelligence. To do so, you will have an opportunity to use industry best practices while working in a team of high-performing professionals.

Note there are two flavors of internship at Pearson, this one (focused on breaking things and making sure they are right) and the Software Development one (focused on making things and making sure they are right), apply to the one that is the best fit for your interests and personality bent. This one involves more testing focus particularly at the functional level, with the hands on programming focused on test automation - the other one mostly focuses on hands on programming.

You will have the chance to experience engineering life at Pearson VUE, such as it is now with remote work, and build skills in using programming languages, advanced testing techniques, and agile development methodology. As part of internship, you will partner with a technology mentor to help you continue to grow, learn and contribute.

The Intern will:

  • Participate in team activities like backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-up, retrospectives and reviews.

  • Execute coding and testing tasks for agile stories as part of an agile development team.

  • Identify, document and resolve defects as part of our validation process

  • Other duties as assigned by managers or leads.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Completion of at least Sophomore level coursework (Junior level preferred) leading towards a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or closely related field

  • Familiarity with at least one programming language (Java preferred because it most widely used at Pearson VUE)

Desired Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Desire to learn and expand knowledge in development languages, applications, and tools

  • Intellectual horsepower and proven ability to quickly learn new processes and tools, business domains and technical applications

  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with clarity and brevity to other professionals.
