Cellular Biology and Biochemistry Intern

At InterVenn, we believe that no one should be blindsided by disease. Our technology enables and empowers the understanding of glycoproteomics, an additional, innovative layer of biology beyond the genome and the proteome, using a simple blood draw. InterVenn’s powerful solutions are broadening humankind’s understanding and treatment of a range of diseases, including cancer. We look forward to our team being joined by new members who have diverse perspectives and backgrounds, who are solution-oriented, and who are ready to challenge the status quo. If this is you, please read-on and apply. Together, we will change the world.

InterVenn is highly committed to supporting the development of scientists in glycosciences. To further our cause, we are excited to announce the 2022 Summer Internship program. This is a great opportunity for junior scientists to learn about glycoscience and be exposed to a variety of activities (research, clinical development, project management, business development, etc) in a fast-growing company developing new diagnostics. In our new cross-functional team focused on studying biomarker changes associated with disease, you will learn new skills and contribute to generate novel insights in glycosylation pathways.

The intern will work in our laboratories at the South San Francisco site, and gain critical knowledge of the core techniques used for biological assays used in biomarker interpretation, target identification and functional analysis of glycosylation pathways.

Responsibilities:

    • Learn and perform laboratory techniques to complete a project over the course of the program under the supervision of a technical advisor. These activities might include cell culture, protein expression and purification, cell-based assays, flow cytometry, ELISA etc
    • Analyze experimental data
    • Gain background knowledge in glycosylation by reading scientific literature
    • Meet with scientific advisors on a regular basis to review progress
    • Learn how to maintain documentation of experiments in lab notebooks
    • Present project findings at the conclusion of the program

Qualifications:

    • Candidates must be in enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program majoring in Biology (e.g. Immunology, Cell Biology), Biochemistry or a related discipline
    • Ideal candidates would have completed 2 years of study towards a bachelor’s degree by June 2022
