Our laser communications technology is helping NASA provide high-definition video from the International Space Station, and to explore asteroids 250 million miles away. Our other optical technology can also help scientists discover biohazards; support intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions; and protect soldiers from explosive devices. Candidates must live within a 60 miles radius of Florham Park, NJ or be willing to relocate. Employees are expected to work in-person. However, we can make accommodations for some remote work on an as-needed basis.

What You'll Get to do:

  • Hands-on development, prototyping, and testing of custom lasers and other optical systems for free-space optical communications, remote sensing, RF photonics, and other applications

  • Designing, setting up, and using optical test apparatus to evaluate key optical components and subsystems, and analyzing test results

  • Developing lab instrument control software for automated testing

  • If required, obtain/retain a government security clearance at the level required to perform the duties of the position

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Independent senior research project, internship, or other similar hands-on research experience that involved one of more of the following: lasers, fiber optics, optical communications, nonlinear optics, spectroscopy, integrated photonics, or RF photonics

  • Hands-on experience with common optical laboratory equipment such as photodiodes, oscilloscopes, and optical spectrum analyzers

Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in an office and lab environment which requires proper safety precautions. Work requires some physical effort in the handling of materials, boxes, or equipment.

Pay Range: The proposed salary range for this position is $49,400-$98,900. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
