Internship -Operational Excellence

The OPEX Intern is responsible for coordinating, maintaining, and tracking OPEX project and materials to support Continuous Improvement processes, productivity goals and metrics. The OPEX Intern will apply various technologies to test, evaluate and make recommendations to modify manufacturing machinery and equipment to meet optimum efficiencies and improved ergonomics.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures quality and consistency in production processes by assessing, modifying, and/or calibrating equipment.
- Ensures efficiency and productivity by evaluating and modifying production processes and/or equipment.
- Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves issues with equipment, devices, or products; uses precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to make adjustments.
- Gathers and arranges materials.
- Assists OPEX Manager with tasks related to development, construction and evaluation of prototypes, new prodcuts, operations and/or procedures.
- Drafts and maintains production logs, inventories, documentation, and reports including those outlining procedures, batch records, inventory, productivity, changeover, waste, and progress.
- Design, edit and produce digital images, graphics, and videos for use in training materials
- Coordinate staff meetings and other events using remote/virtual meeting technology, as needed
- Maintain department meeting agendas and minutes
- Respond to requests for information from the organization on behalf of the OPEX department and assigned executive
- Assist in monitoring OPEX events and gathering attendee lists, trend analysis, lessons learned, and course evaluations
- Generate reports on key performance metrics as assigned by OPEX Director and/or the assigned executive
- Assist in the ongoing development and improvement of OPEX program policies and procedures
- Implement sustaining countermeasures, poka yoke, OPLs, standard work and appropriate Training & Skills Development and Review and Response processes to ensure results
- Understand reliability fundamentals, Kanban, rapid change-over, Kaizen techniques
- Ensures compliance with quality, health and safety laws, regulations, and best practices,
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Scope of Position:
Reports to: OPEX Manager
Supervisory Responsibility (direct reports): None
Skills/Work Experience:
- Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), strong computer skills in general and functional knowledge and understanding of distance learning applications.
- Familiarity with multiple multimedia file formats, web-publishing, and graphic design (desired, not required)
- Excellent writing skills and the demonstrated ability to constructively review and edit documents
- Remarkable productivity and team member attributes, traits, and skills
- Strong organizational, planning, project coordination skills, and attention to detail
- Strong time management skills, with proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact with people from many levels of the organization
- Essential Functions: Support all OPEX initiatives, trainings, activities, and events, and provide administrative support to the OPEX Manager.
- Understanding of products and equipment used in manufacturing.

Education:
Junior or Senior year in Bachelor’s Degree Program with preferred concentration in Engineering, Business or other related discipline.
Years of Experience:
2 years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Other:
Expected duration 6-9+ months.
