Intern, Digital Design (Remote)

What is the Internship?
As our team’s Digital Design Intern, you will be working with a close-knit group of designers, writers, and marketing stakeholders to assist in the production of email, blogs, web pages, social media graphics, and more. You will be responsible for designing and coding emails, selecting, editing and uploading product photos to the Road Scholar website, assist in the creation of landing pages using Road Scholar’s web CMS, and translating manuscripts into polished digital content. Your work will support our mission and inspire our consumers to learn, discover and travel with Road Scholar.
What will you do?
- Design/code, edit and launch 3-4 emails campaign proofs per week using established HTML templates
- Select, edit and upload photos for Road Scholar trips, instructors, and other web landing pages
- Transform manuscripts into polished digital content, using Road Scholar’s existing brand guidelines
- Provide creative support to and take direction from senior designers in producing high-quality digital assets for web, blogs, email, social media, and more.
- Present your work to marketing leadership at the end of your internship
What is needed?
- Be in a junior or senior year at an accredited college or university
- The freedom to work 20 hours/week for 16 weeks (May-August 2022) - working remote
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software, including Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, take direction, and prioritize work
- Experience in HTML/CSS
- An interest in clean typography with an emphasis on user experience and accessibility
- A willingness to learn and enthusiasm to help wherever you can
- An online or digital portfolio (ok to include college work)
- Preferred: majoring in digital design, illustration, web or UX design, or another related field
What will you learn?
- Hone your design skills as you create digital assets for email, web, and social media platforms
- Gain a strong understanding of the digital design production process in a marketing context and environment and learn the nuances of an in-house design team.
- Strengthen your problem-solving skills as you practice thinking on your feet in a design setting
- How to strategize, conceptualize and execute creative testing campaigns
What are the internship details?
This internship runs 16 consecutive weeks during the summer between May 2022 and August 2022, subject to the student’s schedule. The internship is remote, 20 hours/week with flexible weekly schedule. Stipend is paid at 50% halfway through the internship and the other 50% after successful completion of the internship. College credit where applicable.
