Responsibilities: Discovery is the home to those who love to explore and aren't afraid to dive headfirst into the world in front of them. Through Discovery's Publicity Internship program, the intern will have ample opportunity to 'dip their toes' into the TV industry and watch what happens behind the scenes of how to promote series' and the networks. The intern will work on multiple projects such as, but not limited to, drafting press releases, creation of media lists, media monitoring, crafting and editing press reports, outlet research, assisting with Shark Week and the press mailer, and more. At the end of the semester, the intern will have a portfolio they can utilize for future endeavors.
Responsibilities: Support PR Assistant in the generation of weekly clip report. Maintain status sheets, episode descriptions and other PR documents. Help pull and curate show specific assets including episodic photography and video clips. Manage department premium inventory. Assist with research projects and brainstorm sessions as needed. General administrative support.
Responsibilities: This internship will be a meaningful and valuable experience because the intern will dig into the bare bones of what the TLC Communications team does. The publicity intern's duties will include compiling a daily press clip report for the internal network, creating media lists, screening episodes to pull clips to pitch to the press, managing frequent updates to TLC's press website, photo selection, putting together mailings, attending weekly team meetings and copy-editing press releases. Interns may also have an opportunity to pitch press for local or national coverage for TLC programming, write media alerts and/or press releases and engage with the press directly (which is all contingent on team needs/intern's experience working with the press). The intern will be held responsible for completing projects according to deadlines from the Manager/team needs and keeping Manager aware of bandwidth/workload (this is very important). At the end of their internship, the intern will have mastered a series of administrative tasks, which will prepare them for any PR or other entertainment-related entry-level job out of college, dependent on the intern's experience/team needs at the time, the intern may have a portfolio of achieved press coverage.
HGTV/discovery+ home PR intern: The HGTV PR team is an integral brand partner working alongside all other network teams to ensure success for the net's robust lineup of linear and discovery+ home content. Our unwavering efforts elevate HGTV's programming and expert talent in top national broadcast, print, radio, and digital outlets, resulting in billions of earned media impressions annually. HGTV is a top lifestyle net for Discovery, and our small but mighty team of seven prides itself on excellence in communications and working toward the common goal of retaining established viewers and consistently attracting new ones to the network.
Responsibilities: The HGTV PR intern will walk away with a wealth of meaningful public relations experiences as well as writing samples that will help boost both their knowledge and resume. Duties will include extensive writing opportunities (press releases, programming tune-in alerts, talent bios, etc.), daily media monitoring and weekly media monitoring reports, managing the network's press website, episode screening to identify clips for press promotion, and others as assigned. The intern is expected to be an active member of the team, offering their insight and ideas in all team meetings.
ID & Trvl Channel PR Intern: The communications teams for ID and Trvl Channel touch all parts of the company. We work with programmers, marketers, executives, production companies, and talent on a regular basis to promote our series and specials. We develop and implement the strategies to build buzz and amplify our programming and stars.
Responsibilities: The ID and Travel Channel communications intern will support the team with all of its campaigns and PR efforts with a majority focus on the True Crime and Paranormal & Unexplained genres on the new discovery+ app. During their tenure, interns will have the opportunity to write press releases and various publicity materials, brainstorm PR strategies and ideas, pitch media, attend press appearances and departmental meetings, when possible. They will be able to see how the communications teams contribute to the overall brand strategy and interact with other departments, granting them exposure to other areas of the company. The intern will also assist with various other departmental duties including writing programming highlights, updating the press site, maintaining media lists, pulling video clips, screening content, media monitoring, and compiling press reports, all while shadowing other team members to get a full picture of what it means to work in television/streaming media and communications.
Qualifications:
This summer our Internship Program will be a hybrid program. A hybrid program means interns will be expected to come into their designated office location about 3 times a week. All internships will be hybrid unless explicitly stated as a remote opportunity.

Factual Brands PR Internship: The Publicity team of the Factual Brands is a place where creative, collaborative and inclusive culture comes together to garner as much attention and press to the network as possible. The honor of promoting Discovery's tentpole programming with projects such as Shark Week, Puppy Bowl, or documentaries such as Introducing, Selma Blair, is an amazing yet challenging opportunity to further dive into the TV/entertainment industry. With quite a small team, the hands-on opportunity is within reach for anyone wanting to grow within this department. We are a team that works hard together, motivates each other and works to make each series successful from the inside out. At the end of the team, our goal is for our team to ensure that our programs get the best coverage in the media and entice people to tune in through creative means.

Food Network and Cooking Channel PR Intern: The Public Relations department, Food Network, and Cooking Channel, has the exciting opportunity to promote popular network programming such as Chopped, Beat Bobby Flay and Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives to national and local broadcast, print, and online press outlets. We are crafting and sharing the story behind our shows and talent with the press, which ultimately leads consumers to tune in to our programming. Big picture, we are behind the earned media strategies and initiatives that land our talent on TODAY Show, Good Morning America, and People Magazine, just to name a few.

- Must be currently enrolled as a student (proof of enrollment will be required if selected for an internship)
- Must be a rising Junior, Senior, or Graduate student
- Must have at least a 3.0 GPA
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States
- Versed in AP Style
- Desired Majors: PR, Communications, Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Film & Television
- Previous experience with Cision, WordPres or MuckRack is a plus, but not required.
- Ideally, this intern would have already had 1-2 publicity internships.
- MUST have an interest in publicity and a strong desire to work within the entertainment field.

Our Summer 2022 program will run from Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 to Friday, August 19, 2022.
The application deadline for Summer 2022 is Friday, March, 4th. After this date, we cannot guarantee your application will be reviewed for the position.
Our internships are paid opportunities. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired.
