Position Description

Atlantic Union’s Diversity Summer Internship program is a professional development opportunity for local diverse students to gain practical work experience, helping students become better prepared to enter into the financial industry post-graduation. Students have the ability to build professional networks, and receive training and mentoring throughout the program.

This intern role is within the Private Banking division of Atlantic Union Bank Wealth Management. The position will provide exposure to core banking solutions for high net worth clients and prospects with focus on building out full relationships while satisfying the specific transactional need. You will work directly with the Managing Director of Private Banking, the Private Banking team and other wealth management partners.


Position Accountabilities

The Intern is provided assignments that all aspects of the Private Banking division related to lending, mortgage and deposit opportunities associated with high net worth clients. Assignments can include:


  • Work with Private Banking Associate regarding data entry for new private banking loan opportunities including input of application and review/processing of closing documentation.
  • Review financials of existing clients for identification of other potential private banking and wealth management opportunities.
  • Attend various types of department meetings to see all aspects of private banking including client opportunity identification, strategy meetings and policy/procedure related meetings
  • Assist the Managing Director, Private Banking with new department projects and initiatives
  • Shadow Private Banking Associate as we develop new and review existing private banking policies and procedures.
  • Shadow and perform remediation test work.


Organizational Relationship

This position reports to the Managing Director, Private Banking


Position Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Position Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years’ old
  • Currently working on degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university is required, and Students must be undergraduates entering their junior or senior year or currently pursuing a graduate level degree
  • Position is currently remote. Once offices re-open, position will be hybrid; In the office 3 days a week. Must be available to work a 40-hour week, Monday through Friday, within Richmond, VA.
  • Must submit a resume and cover letter highlighting accomplishments, professional and academic goals, and expectations of this internship position
  • Submission of transcripts and two professional or academic references
