Position Description

Atlantic Union’s Diversity Summer Internship program is a professional development opportunity for local diverse students to gain practical work experience, helping students become better prepared to enter into the financial industry post-graduation. Students have the ability to build professional networks, and receive training and mentoring throughout the program.


As a Procurement Intern you’ll have the chance to help Atlantic Union shape the future and deliver winning results in an exciting and dynamic time. During our 10 weeks, paid summer program, you’ll experience on-the-job training, access to mentors, planned social events with other Atlantic Union interns and educational opportunities.


Position Accountabilities

The Intern will be responsible for assisting the team in different procurement process while analyzing the current process and making recommendations for improving efficiency. The intern will also have the opportunity to:

  • Use supply chain management tools with an eye on maximizing value, minimizing cost/risk, while respecting a supplier’s capabilities
  • Conduct process improvement and total cost analyses; prepare budget variance analysis on expenditure
  • Use strong communications with strategic, analytical and creative thinking skills to compel others to take action
  • Leverage your planning and resource manage skills to deliver exceptional results for our internal clients.
  • Acquire an understanding of the banking environment; especially as it relates to value generation, ethics and compliance considerations
  • Shadow multiple department members to gain understandings of individual roles within the team


Note: Travel between local facilities, company paid, may be required.


Organizational Relationship

This position reports to the Procurement Manager, Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management


Position Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Position Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years’ old
  • Currently working on degree in Business, Supply Change Management, or Operations.
  • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university is required, and Students must be undergraduates entering their junior or senior year or currently pursuing a graduate level degree
  • Position is currently remote. Once offices re-open, position will be hybrid; In the office 3 days a week. Must be available to work a 40-hour week, Monday through Friday, within Richmond, VA.
