Program Objective/Scope
BD Technologies and Innovation proudly offers a Summer Internship Program for active undergraduate and graduate students. Through this program, the student will have the chance to gain real-world experience in research and development in the medical device industry.
Selected students will be immersed in the design and development process to build top selling medical device products for various global markets. The summer internship program at BD is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience at one of the top medical device companies while advancing the world of health.
Each intern will have an individual project and the opportunity to develop technical engineering and scientific expertise. Through our summer internship, intern students develop an extensive professional network, learn how to work in a scientific and engineering environment, build hands-on laboratory skills, and deliver presentations showcasing their work.
We are recruiting for a highly driven engineering/science students with a passion for technology and product development. The candidate is responsible for all relocation, housing, and transportation costs.
Project Area: Data Analysis / Method Development in TCS (Translational and Clinical Sciences)
Applicable Majors: Data Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Engineering, Biology
Project examples: Work with the TCS team to extract existing data from 3D scanner files and utilize that data to develop methods to provide objective measurements of erythema in assessing the in vivo performance of percutaneous delivery devices. This work will involve collaboration with BDTI personnel as well as possible collaboration with outside experts from relevant fields. This project will involve the organization of disparate existing data sets as well as the potential for designing novel studies and participating in the capture of data in in vivo studies.
Preferred candidates will have experience in data handling, scripting languages such as R or Python, image analysis and be familiar with basic biology concepts. This position can be partially remote depending on the circumstances.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
The candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without limitations and require no sponsorship for visa status now or in the future (e.g. H1-B status)
Rising junior or senior undergraduate or higher students pursuing a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering or Biology. (must be an active student at time of internship)
Experience in data handling and image analysis
Proficiency in Microsoft suite of software (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Ability to work 40 hours per week for duration of the 10 to 12-week summer internship period
PREFERRED:
MS/PhD Degree: All levels are encouraged to apply
Experience in data handling and analysis of large data sets
Experience in image analysis of biological data
Knowledge of R or Python, statistics, and machine learning
