POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking to employ an enthusiastic and driven Human Resources Intern to assist our Human Resources department with administrative and Human Resources-related tasks. The Human Resources Intern’s responsibilities include updating our employee records, filing Human Resources documents, initiating background checks, providing suitable recommendations to improve Human Resources policies and procedures, and drafting employee communications notifying staff of policy and procedure changes.
The role requires keeping abreast of the latest developments in labor legislation to determine how company policies may be affected. The role also requires being detail-oriented and demonstrating excellent administrative and organization skills.



RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and Maintain Human Resources Compliance Knowledge
  • Develop a current knowledge of Human Resources laws and regulations
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the Human Resources field
  • Develop a working knowledge of Human Resources information databases and searchable resources
  • Keep abreast of document retention requirements
  • Keep abreast of current Virginia Heart policies and procedures
Human Resources Intern Responsibilities:
  • Updating company databases by inputting new information, including contact and employment forms, and filing HR documents
  • Preparing HR related reports as needed
  • Assisting HR Director in gathering market salary information
  • Reviewing new hire paperwork for accuracy and compliancy
  • Screening candidate resumes and application forms to identify suitable candidates to fill company job vacancies
  • Organizing interviews with candidates
  • Posting job advertisements to job boards and social media platforms.
  • Removing job advertisements from job boards and social media platforms once vacancies have been filled
  • Preparing and sending offer and rejection letters or emails to candidates.
  • Coordinating new hire orientations
  • Responding to staff inquiries regarding Human Resources policies, employee benefits, and other Human Resources-related matters



SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

HR Requirements:
  • Proven experience working in an office environment (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of U.S. labor laws
  • Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information System) software is advantageous
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
Required Skills:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HR or related field from a college or university - if undergraduate, preferably a junior or senior.
  • Demonstrates good decision-making skills
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Intuitive with an ability to identify and solve complex problems
  • Sufficient understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

FSLA: Part-time Non-exempt (15-19 hours per week)
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Work Location: Corporate Office – with opportunity for a hybrid remote schedule
