Intern (Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance -- hybrid)
Position Description
Atlantic Union’s Diversity Summer Internship program is a professional development opportunity for local diverse students to gain practical work experience, helping students become better prepared to enter into the financial industry post-graduation. Students have the ability to build professional networks, and receive training and mentoring throughout the program.
Atlantic Union’s Compliance Intern Program is designed to give college students an introduction into regulatory compliance and risk management. It is our intent to give the Intern real assignments. Assignments that stretch the Intern, provide the Intern with valuable experience, and allow the Intern to contribute to the Compliance Department.
Position Accountabilities
The Intern is provided assignments that include the entire compliance management program experience; from research and planning a test, to performing test work, to creating issues for test findings, to prepare a draft of a final test report. The intern will also get the opportunity to:
- Shadow an advisor in their daily work and interactions with the business.
- Shadow and perform reporting, to understand the reporting components.
- Shadow the tester throughout the process.
- Shadow and work through an issue resolution.
- Shadow and assess with the compliance advisor a customer complaint.
Organizational Relationship
This position reports to the Manager of Compliance Administration.
Position Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Position Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years’ old
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university is required, and Students must be undergraduates entering their junior or senior year or currently pursuing a graduate level degree
- Position is currently remote. Once offices re-open, position will be hybrid. Must be available to work a 40-hour week, Monday through Friday
- Must submit a resume and cover letter highlighting accomplishments, professional and academic goals, and expectations of this internship position
- Submission of transcripts and two professional or academic references
