Intern (Graphic Designer -- hybrid role, Glen Allen VA)
Position Description
Atlantic Union Bank’s Diversity Summer Internship program is a professional development opportunity for local diverse students to gain practical work experience, helping students become better prepared to enter into the financial industry post-graduation. Students have the ability to build professional networks, and receive training and mentoring throughout the program.
This internship role is designed to play an important role in bringing our brand to life across a number of creative assets and ensuring consistency in how we show up in the marketplace to our customers, prospects and clients. Day-to-day this role will be responsible for modifying / redesigning existing materials, creating new collateral designs and interfacing with Teammates about creative requests they’ve submitted. The role will collaborate closely with other members of our creative team.
Position Accountabilities
- Develop new creative assets to bring the brand to life and support our brand positioning
- Take existing materials and modify to reflect the evolution of the brand
- Translate desired creative intent and feedback into design recommendations
- Design for different mediums and channels (i.e. print ads and collateral, web, direct mail / email)
- Manage to a list of creative deliverables and their required changes and associated deadlines
- Prepare and send files for production, including details on specs
Organizational Relationship
This position will report to the Creative Director
Position Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Position Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years’ old
- Currently working on a degree in graphic design, marketing or advertising
- Experience as a Graphic Artist / Designer either within a corporate environment, agency, independent contractor or applied within a classroom environment
- Skillful at using technology and design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university is required, and Students must be undergraduates entering their junior or senior year or currently pursuing a graduate level degree
- Position is currently remote. Once offices re-open, position will be hybrid. Must be available to work a 40-hour week, Monday through Friday, within Richmond, VA.

Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to translate marketing strategy and objectives into creative design
- Excellent visual design skills, as well as written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities within specified time frames and operate with high efficiency
- Strategic thinker: Ability to collect, organize, and synthesize information to make a decision, recommendation, or present a POV
- Strong team orientation and ability to work collaboratively with others
- Strong organizational and project management skills with an ability to effectively multi-task, establish priorities, manage to deadlines, navigate effectively through change and deliver results
- Ability to guide and influence across all levels and functions
- Quick learner – must be eager to independently learn about industry and relevant solutions
