Primary Purpose:
Southern California Gas Company is looking for the brightest, highly motivated, most qualified individuals for an intern position in its Customer Programs and Assistance group. This position offers exciting internship opportunities for hands-on training with skilled professionals. It also provides developmental opportunities for the right candidate to apply skills/theories into real-world problem solving and gain valuable work experience that is rewarding personally and professionally.

Responsibilities include accounting support for programs and projects, financial analysis, project documentation and tracking; and support for on-going process improvement and cross-functional projects. The position may also involve with coordinating and interacting with other internal department staff to perform various job functions.

  • ​Paid intern position
  • Duration of internship will be on a continuous year round basis (candidate must be able to work 16-24 hours/week during the school year and up to 40 hours/week during school breaks.)
  • Work location: Downtown LA or Remote under COVID19 guidelines, occasional travel to other company facilities.
  • Placement is based upon applicant's academic qualifications, skills and work experience.
  • Comprehensive intern program includes: facility tours, lunch & learn sessions, networking events and final projects.
  • Interns will give a presentation, outlining their experiences, which they will present at a luncheon attended by peers, executives, and supervisors.
  • Enrolled in a four-year university in a Bachelor's or Master's program
  • Sophomore or Junior undergraduate standing is preferred
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0 or higher required
  • Desirable course work or equivalent experience: Accounting, Business Information System, Business Management, Economics, Communications, Marketing, and Environmental/Energy Efficiency
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SAP is highly desirable
  • Work experience is desirable

  • Have the ability to identify issues, analyze data, develop, recommend, and implement solutions
  • Have good knowledge of finance and general accounting principles.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills to persuade and influence those with divergent opinions toward consensus
  • Have program/project management skills or similar experience
  • Creative and strategic in problem solving
