DTC Content Operations & Scheduling Internship- Summer 2022 (Hybrid)

3.8
Overview:
This summer our Internship Program will be a hybrid program. A hybrid program means interns will be expected to come into their designated office location about 3 times a week. All internships will be hybrid unless explicitly stated as a remote opportunity.

(This Hybrid opportunity is located in New York City).

DTC Content Operations is at the forefront of nonlinear scheduling activity for discovery+ US and its emerging territories. In addition, we assign program availability terms across digital platforms including Aggregated TV Everywhere, MVPD Video on Demand/TVE Everywhere, Licensed Subscription VOD, and Ad Supported VOD. Acting as a conduit between Network programming, Merchandising, and Global Tech Operations, we are responsible for the accurate and timely execution of thousands of nonlinear assets on various platforms. As Discovery (and more broadly the media industry) moves the focus from linear to nonlinear content consumption, our department finds ourselves on the frontlines of executing a robust and accurate content strategy.

Responsibilities:
This would be a meaningful and valuable experience for an intern as it would give them a glimpse into the inner workings of a major streaming service. Streaming has become the prevalent platform for media consumption, and this experience has become extraordinarily relevant into today’s job market. The intern would get an idea of the research and decision making that goes into adding content to Discovery’s nonlinear platforms. They would learn how we manage dates and timelines and gain perspective on how assets cascade down the content pipeline. In addition, they would be shown software and technology used to accomplish successful asset delivery for streaming as well as other nonlinear platforms.

This intern would be responsible for assisting a team of 8 nonlinear schedulers in fulfilling their network responsibilities. Duties would include (but not limited to) helping schedulers push content for delivery, assisting with large scale content scheduling activity and unlocks, assisting with any backlog projects or emerging partner additions. At the end of the semester, the intern will have gained insight into how nonlinear scheduling functions at a practical and technological level. Concurrently, they will sharpen their time management, prioritization, and networking skills.

Qualifications:
  • Must be currently enrolled as a student (proof of enrollment will be required if selected for an internship)
  • Must be a rising Junior, Senior, or Graduate student
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States
